picture taken with my phone - don't you love how i positioned her right in front of the "ortho" sign on the building.
it was the PERFECT photo op.
and then there were cookies...
we had a surprise birthday party for "uncle nate" this past weekend. his girlfriend, kris, organized the entire thing. it was luau-themed and i was asked to bring nate's two favorite desserts. ("peanut butter n' chocolate extravaganza" and "not yo momma's banana pudding"). in addition to that - without kris knowing - i went ahead & made these adorable cookies to correspond with the whole luau theme. again, these pics were taken with my phone and there are actually more i'd like to upload but i'm having issues getting them to photobucket right now. so here's a sneak peek for now...
have a delicious wednesday!

Wow -- love the cookies. I'm curious about how you did the picture on the top. Is there a particular technique I can google to find out how this is done? SO cute and clever!!!
paperturtle...
the pictures on the top of the cookies are something i drew/created and saved as a jpeg. i then found/hunted a local store that prints icing sheets. (unless of course you are lucky enough to own an edible ink printer). the icing sheets will adhere to wet icing/fondant. i baked these cookies on one day & then placed the fondant, icing sheets and icing on the cookie the following day. the fondant is homemade and quite yummy. if the fondant isn't "wet" enough i used a pastry brush, dipped it in water and it was fine. i'd like to try it with just royal icing and see what the results are.
Thanks, Jess. I didn't even know you could do this! Such a great idea. My hubby has a 50th birthday coming up and this would be a great dessert for his party. :o)
if you end up doing the cookies, you'll have to let me know how they turn out. i'd love to see them. i'll be posting other pics of the cookies so you can see more details. (am i jealous of your recent purchase. *wink*)
