la petite boulangerie...

Tuesday, November 17

"la petite boulangerie" (which translates into "small bakery") officially opened and closed...all in one day.

yep...ella's first birthday party has come and gone...
the mini french bakery themed party was a success!
officially 3 days have passed since the monumental day!
and let me tell you...

it turned out to be SUCH a great day.
not just for me...having all of these birthday visions i've had in my head for months finally come together.

but for little ella pie.
she was surrounded by beautiful petite pastries...
...and more importantly, she was surrounded by people who love her.

wanna see how it turned out?
close your eyes....
don't peek...
ok...
now open your eyes...

a "bouchon" might hit the spot...

okay then...how about just a mini croissant filled with a delicious chicken salad?

you could wash it all down with a mini-sized portion of water...
i know...it's too pretty to drink. *wink*

i could not have done it (and enjoyed the process) without the help of my family:
clara, ema, j, grandma angelotti, grandpa & grandma schnapp

so to all of you...and by all of you i mean the family that helped, lynn @ sweet things emporium that baked, the inspiration from tomkat studios, amy atlas, martha stewart, & lollipop workshop for various elements of the party, the friends that celebrated with us and to all of you who've followed along as i've planned, organized and posted progress...

"merci beaucoup"...thank you VERY much...

Amazing table! How did you use to put your cake stand on? It is just a box wrapped in wrapping paper? I was worried about the weight of the cake. Also, can you explain how you did the feather centerpieces as well! Thanks for the ideas.

Karin asked about what I have my cake stand on. It's actually a wooden tray - a STURDY wooden tray that I flipped upside down. I then just wrapped/draped some brown polka dot fabric to cover it completely.

The centerpieces are mini pompom flowers I made. I posted a tutorial on how to make the flowers here:
http://penandpaperflowers.blogspot.com/2009/11/how-did-she-do-that-tissue-paper.html

The glass jars the flowers are in were filled with custom picked coordinating jelly beans.

I hope that helps Karin...send any other questions my way. I'm glad to help! hugs!
