(this invitation and coordinating party accessories are now available in my etsy shoppe)
first post of a brand-new year...a new decade...
why not kick things off with a rockin' inspirational party post...??
you with me?
how about hosting a party on the 2nd day of january?
crazy?yeah. (considering we're barely winding down from 2 major holidays)
fun?
definitely.
so let's go...
completely inspired from pottery barn's penelope nursery bedding...
definitely.
necessary?
absolutely...
it's a baby shower afterall...& baby's don't wait. *wink*
so let's go...
remember this invite i recently created and shared?
and from a white vinyl wall decal to be used in the nursery...(details from this post)
at the base of the tree were the baby shower favors...
and there you have it.
with barely 3 weeks to prepare...
think baby girl. (pink)
think winter. (snow)
think simple. (pottery barn feel)
think fresh. (crisp accent colors & white)
add that all together.
throw in some creativity and planning.
& you've got yourself a baby shower...
here's the table
a hot pink bird i made from felt to nestle among the branches...
(just like on the invite...*wink*)
cute little accent birds with "snow" at their bases
(thank you joann's)
the royal icing "cupcake buttons" i made
we just placed them right on the cupcakes just before the shower. cute.
the entire cupcake tower
(kept it simple and just ordered these from sam's... by the way...)
simple white desserts...powdered donut holes & meringues
two varieties of delicious chicken salad sandwiches
(these were the ones with tarragon)
mini polka dot sugar cookies with royal icing
fresh fruit with powdered sugar...
(the sugar mimics the appearance of snow)
pink lemonade
served in these pink sugar rimmed glasses...yummy.
and for those water lovers...
as guests arrived they were led to a little "sign-in" table
a pen & circular "wish cards" printed & tied with a pink ribbon
were given to each guest to write on.
the wish cards were then hung on the centerpiece
(which i didn't get a picture of)
then there was the "thank you" tree
at the base of the tree were the baby shower favors...
the favors were jumbo sugar cookies i made
packaged in cellophane & stapled closed with coordinating ribbons
an adorable baby shower.
thrown together in 3 short weeks (with 2 major holidays in the mix).
it was unique.
it was fresh.
it was original.
i LOVE it.
thanks vic...it was awesome to work with you to make this happen.
you made everything so easy & enjoyable.
& ally...can't wait to meet your brand new baby girl...
welcome twenty ten....
may it be filled with continuous fresh creativity...& fun.

Simply beautiful! If you ever get a chance to post a tutorial on how to make the candy buttons on the cupcakes I would LOVE to learn!! ;o) Very elegant!
WOW!!! This shower is so incredibly beautiful. I adore the cupcake stand you used. Can you PLEASE tell me where it is from??Thanks so much for the inspiration. You are wonderfully talented. :)
rachel - the cupcake stand...
it's actually from costco - just ask someone in the bakery department & they'll sell them to you. it's made of styrofoam! (can you believe it?! it unstacks for easy storage & can be used numerous times. most people don't even realize it's styrofoam until you walk up REALLY close.
hope that helps.
i'm glad you love the shower so much! i love that it's inspiring others to replicate! yea!
Wow, what a great shower. So much great party inspiration!
I am sharing your party on my blog in a Birdie theme post.
