I have seen them circling the web and I finally gave in after seeing these adorable creations posted by Heather over at Sprinkle Bakes.
SERIOUSLY cute....right!?
(of course they are frosted in my favorite "vintage blue" too!) *wink*
"Giving in" means I had to order the mini doughnut pan.
So...
with pan in hand...
and the necessary supplies in the baking pantry...
a FALL version of mini doughnuts awaited their creation.
Using the "chocolate cake doughnut" recipe that was printed right on the pan packaging...
I gathered my ingredients.
(I may have added some mini chocolate chips to the batter as well)...
After having mixed everything up, I filled the doughnut pan...
Yes...those sprinkles on the pan are a light spritz of olive oil.
For easy filling of the doughnut pan cavities,
I highly recommend filling a gallon-size ziploc bag with the doughnut batter.
By snipping one of the corners with scissors you can easily fill your pan without creating a mess.
8 minutes later, a little bit of cooling time & some confectioner's sugar, I had these...
Plain, powdered or glazed?
(glaze recipe also on the packaging)
Did I mention I added mini chocolote chips to the batter as well...*wink*
And here's what they might look like IF i had eaten the first row...
And because Halloween is right around the corner...I got a little crazy...
I dipped the donuts into the glaze and then sprinkled on some decorative sugars
I will be trying Heather's recipe next time - this one wasn't "moist" enough for my taste.
And the glaze recipe I used was runny and was meant more for creating a fully glazed doughnut.
I ended up using Heather's glaze recipe for the Halloween doughnuts.
Otherwise...these are EASY...
super adorable...
and adaptable to ANY party or dessert table.
(perhaps even for Ella's 2nd birthday party coming up - which may be the entire reason I bought the pan)! *wink*
Thank you Sprinkle Bakes for inspiring me to try my hand at these mini-sized confections!
KEEPING IT REAL
First of all...as pretty as the picture is of the ingredients...
it's NOT a true representation of what my kitchen looks like when I bake.
Second...because I wasn't precise on the measurements for Heather's glaze recipe, mine came out too thick.
Which means my dipped doughnuts didn't turn out as pretty as hers. *sniffle*
Third...I DID eat the first row of doughnuts - and maybe a couple more.
Although I can't recall exactly. *wink*

Tasty or not, they are perfectly adorable!!!!
THOSE are precious! Thanks for sharing!
I just saw this link on my FB page. Oh. My. Goodness!! Your donuts are so beautiful, as are your photos. I can't wait to see more from you! Thank you so much for the sweet mention. :)
PS. I would so eat a row of those chocolate chip ones right now!
So cute. Want to buy the pan too and do what you've done!
These are so cute. I want a pan now! Your pictures are great! I would love to know what kind of camera you have since I am in the market for one!
Yum! These look amazing! I have been wanting to make donuts for awhile now. That mini donut pan is too cute!
Looks wonderful, but arent doughnuts supposed to be boiled or deep-fried or something?
Just curious, cause I always thought that was what made them "moist".
Sprinkle Bakes - you are SO welcome for the mention! Your doughnuts were the inspiration behind it all! *wink*
Tammy - I use a Nikon D70. Have had it for years and LOVE it.
Jess...you are correct. Traditional doughnuts are made much differently than these. The ones I've posted are called "cake doughnuts" - hence the ability to actually "bake" them. (A much more simple process but it does produce a different taste/texture than regular doughnuts). Thanks for asking/inquiring!!
And thanks everyone else for the feedback/comments.
I'd love for you to come back and share the versions you come up with if you purchase the pan and try them out!
Do you think you could add cocoa powder to Sprinkles recipe to make chocolate? Also as soon as I saw this post I ordered the mini donut pan - TOO CUTE!
oh my dear these are to die for!!! Must get a pan and start baking as well.
Kisses from the WhipperChicks
Mini doughnuts are hot!! They are currently a customer favorite and I love making them because they're so simple to make. I just need to buy more cake pans!
Beth...I'm checking with Sprinkle Bakes to find out what she recommends as far as adding cocoa powder. I'll let you know what I find out.
Beth, (and anyone else that is curious)...
Here is the response I received from Sprinkle Bakes about adding cocoa powder to make these chocolate:
Hi Jessica, I'm sorry for my delayed response! You can add 1/4 cup cocoa powder mixed with a little hot water (2-3 tbsp.) however it WILL make the donut have a heavier texture. I've yet to find a chocolate donut recipe that I'm satisfied with - will let you know (in this thread) if/when I find one. Thanks so much for your question!
